The Hatfield Society Scholarship Fund
PURPOSE

    The Hatfield Society Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 as an annual scholarship to
    enable bright students from low income families in the Greater Vancouver Area of British
    Columbia to attend a university, community college, or technical institution in British Columbia.

    The Hatfield Society is registered as a non-profit organization and is governed by a Board of
    six Directors.

AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP

    $500 to $3000

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF A SCHOLARSHIP CANDIDATE

  •    need for financial assistance to continue education
  •    high academic achievement


DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIP

    The scholarship will be for a period of one year renewable to a total of four years as needed
    to complete the course the applicant originally planned.

PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP

    The institutional fees will be paid directly to the institution with the instruction that, if the
    student withdraws, any refund of scholarship money will be made to the Scholarship Fund
    and not to the student.                   

    If  the applicant fails to maintain his/her academic standing  during any year, the award will be
    discontinued.

DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED

  • Completed application form   (click here for application form)
  • Proof of financial need (copy of parents' last income tax statement preferred)
  • Letter of recommendation from teacher or councilor countersigned by principle with reference
    to the good character of the student
  • Transcript of marks for the three previous years
  • Brief biographical profile of applicant written by applicant and verified by the teacher (family
    circumstances, interests, academic goals, pastimes, community activity and involvement)
  • Name and address of post secondary institution the student wishes to attend
  • Date of registration when fees are required
  • Student number at post secondary institution (if available)

APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED BY MARCH 1 OF EACH
YEAR.

AWARDED A SCHOLARSHIP NO LATER THAN MAY 1.
